Sodium content classification philosophy

Terms describing sodium content use specific wording that manufacturers may not always follow to the letter.  We attempt to follow the manufacturers description where provided and only substitute our own when a full description is not provided or in a few classifications we have created ourselves such as the “ a little more sodium” category.

Not every one of our items are listed in a sodium content category but all of our items are below the general guideline of less than 10% of the daily limit for sodium or are listed in “a little more sodium” collection.  In fact some items well below the 10% guideline, but with better options available in their category will still be listed as “a little more sodium”.  Foods containing anything over 20% sodium per serving are considered high and won’t be listed.

We strive to present the best options available in every category as well as carry a wide variety of selections.  Some categories tend to be low sodium in nature, but feel it is still helpful to remind ourselves that there are always many flavorful options available.

Another goal is to support those that may be pursuing other dietary restrictions or goals, so where manufacturers have identified these classifications we try to acknowledge them as well in our collections.
